Report: FA cup semi-finalists now want Nottingham Forest star who fell out with Steve Cooper

Nottingham Forest are hoping to offload a number of players during the summer transfer window.

PSR guidelines must be adhered to and there are players in the squad who will simply crave more frequent football.

One of those players is Joe Worrall who as things stand is the club captain.

The centre-back finished the season on loan with Besiktas after he had a falling out with Steve Cooper and then failed to impress Nuno Espirito Santo.

He won the Turkish Cup with the Istanbul-based club but he didn’t start as many games as he would have liked for the club.

Now, it’s back to the drawing board for Worrall and another club has come forward to declare their interest in the player’s services.

Joe Worrall wanted by Coventry City

It’s already come to light that Worrall is being courted by Sheffield United and Forest do want to sell him.

Now, according to journalist Alan Nixon, Coventry have joined the race to land the 27-year-old defender.

However, it’s believed that Coventry want to take Worrall on loan and that simply won’t do for Forest.

The Reds are keen to get him off the books and sell him to allow some wriggle room when it comes to financial fair play.

Worrall doesn’t have a future at Forest and surely he will be keen to leave the club on a permanent basis too.

Forest shouldn’t loan Worrall out again this summer

It’s been claimed thatForest want around £4 million for Worrall and that feels like a decent deal.

Worrall is a very established Championship player and he’d be a coup for clubs in the second tier.

The Premier League has proved tricky for Worrall but that doesn’t necessarily make him a bad player.

Worrall has made 226 appearances for Forest and as a childhood supporter, he will be proud of his achievements on Trentside.

Football is a funny old game though and now, Espirito Santo has deemed Worrall surplus to requirements.

Coventry or Sheffield United would represent decent moves for Worrall and he will be hoping something can be sorted out.

The academy graduate would be a useful player to sell for Forest this summer.

As he’s a homegrown player any transfer fee that the club gets for him will go down on the PSR spreadsheet as total profit.
