'Incredible' player makes decision on future after Chelsea links - journalist

Chelsea have been linked with so many strikers this month, especially of late.

For example, it has been claimed that Chelsea have thought about signing Jonathan David from Lille.

Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion is another centre-forward who they are said to have looked at.

However, it has been reported that the club have now cooled their interest in him.

Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy may also end up being a striker who Chelsea miss out on this summer.

Striker could be about to join Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea are not the only top European club who seem to be in the market for a new centre-forward.

Borussia Dortmund are also trying to strengthen up front by the looks of things.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the German club are optimistic about signing Guirassy and the player has now made a decision on his future, with Chelsea now seemingly out of the picture.

Plettenberg posted on X on Sunday: “A decision is to be made within the next days. Borussia Dortmund are still very optimistic.”

Plettenberg has now claimed that Guirassy has chosen to leave Stuttgart and that Chelsea are no longer in the running for his signature.

Serhou Guirassy could have been a smart signing for Chelsea

Guirassy never looked to be a priority for Chelsea. But given how their striker search is going, maybe he should have been.

Last season, the Guinea international scored 28 goals in as many Bundesliga games to help Stuttgart finish in second and qualify for the Champions League.

That is some record, while a report from BBC Sport claims that his release clause is set at just £15m. He could have been a real bargain for Chelsea this summer.

Guirassy, who has been described as “incredible” by teammate Chris Fuhrich, is 28 as well. It means he would not have blocked Nicolas Jackson’s pathway into the starting XI forever.

Signing another young striker, though, could give the 23-year-old that problem.

Simply put, bringing in Guirassy is a bit of a no-brainer. For whatever reason, though, perhaps because he is 28, Chelsea are not focusing on the Stuttgart star.
