Report: West Ham have now made contact to sign £30m forward compared to Diego Maradona

West Ham have now made an opening move to bring one of Europe’s top talents to the London Stadium this summer.

The east Londoners are looking to improve their attacking department as Newcastle attempt to take Jarrod Bowen away from Julen Lopetegui – while Danny Ings could also leave the London Stadium.

Regardless of whether the latter stays or goes, West Ham need reinforcements anyway, as Ings and Michail Antonio only scored eight goals combined last season.

Now, Tim Steidten is looking to rectify that issue, and has made contact to bring one of Europe’s most exciting youngsters to West Ham

West Ham make contact to sign Matias Soule

A story from Calciomercato now claims that West Ham have made contact with Juventus to sign Matias Soule.

The Argentina U23 international shone on loan at Frosinone last season, scoring 11 goals – while also providing three assists – in 36 Serie A appearances.

Soule also registered more successful dribbles (101) than anybody else in Italy’s top-flight, ahead of AC Milan No.10 Rafael Leao and Napoli No.77 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Calciomercato believe West Ham have asked Juventus in the past few days what it would take to sign the South American, and describe the Hammers as the side who are most keen to secure his signature.

The Italian news outlet add that Juventus told West Ham they value Soule at €35m (£30m) – which is an affordable price for the Irons to pay.

Tim Steidten could sign the new Diego Maradona for Julen Lopetegui

Soule is only 21 years of age and is still making a name for himself in Europe, so West Ham fans might not know much about the type of player he is.

If that is the case, a comparison to a better known footballer may help, and the Argentine has actually been likened to Diego Maradona of all players.

It was Claudio Ranieri who made the bold claim, telling Tutto Mercato Web: “When you have champions like Soule who shoot like Maradona or Zico, you just have to applaud him. This is (a moment of) beauty for those who come to the stadium and pay for the ticket.”
