Tottenham intrigued by Lille striker Jonathan David

Sources have now confirmed that Spurs have been sufficiently intrigued by the David option to investigate it further.

TBR understands Spurs are working hard on options which also include the likes of Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Gimenez, especially, has been a player hotly touted with a move to North London with one report even suggesting a deal is very close.

Jonathan David statistics

David, who is considered one of the fastest players in Europe, netted 26 times whilst laying on nine assists for the Ligue 1 outfit last term.

The Canada international also has a phenomenal record with his country, scoring 26 goals across 48 appearances.

The 24-year-old’s FBref statistics make for very impressive reading, too, as he ranks in the top three per cent for pass completion per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his proficient link-up play.

Further, David sits in the top 17 per cent for non-penalty goals, amplifying how clinical he is in front of goal.

If Tottenham do land his signature this summer, it’d be a very exciting acquisition and one that’d fit into Ange Posteocglou’s system seamlessly.

A telling week lies ahead.
