2025 LB Chase Taylor commits to Michigan

Stockbridge (Ga.) three-star linebacker Chase Taylor has committed to Michigan, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He’s the second pledge of the day for the Wolverines, joining New Orleans Archbishop Shaw four-star wide receiver Jacob Washington.

Taylor chose the Wolverines while also holding offers from the likes of USC, Tennessee, LSU, Florida State and over 15 other Power Four programs.

The 6-foot-2.5, 200-pounder is the No. 604 overall prospect and No. 69 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 64 player in Georgia.

Like Washington, Taylor was also in Ann Arbor over the weekend for his official visit. LBs coach Brian Jean-Mary led the charge for the Wolverines — who now have five commitments on the defensive side of the ball this cycle.

“I had a great time,” Taylor told The Wolverine about his OV. “It was a really chill vibe. I learned more about some of the coaches. It’s definitely somewhere I want to be. I like the fun we had like playing paintball. I met some of the players. I liked the networking.”

“It’s Michigan. It feels like home,” he added.

Michigan up to 12 commits in 2025 cycle

After finishing with the No. 15 class in the nation last cycle, Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines are charging for top-10 status in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings this time around. After adding Washington and Taylor, U-M checks in with the No. 13 class in the nation. Taylor is the seventh commit for the Wolverines this month.

Palatine (Ill.) four-star DL Jaylen Williams kicked things off on June 10, becoming the third blue-chip D-lineman to join the fold this cycle. He was followed by top-100 safety Kainoa Winston on June 14. Washington is the second prospect out of The Boot to commit to U-M this month, now flanking Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw three-star Jasper Parker.

Over the weekend, a pair of IMG Academy standouts in four-star running back Donovan Johnson and three-star interior offensive lineman Kayden Strayhorn joined the class. Johnson is the No. 15 RB in the nation.

Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall remains at the top of the Wolverines’ class, checking in as the No. 45 overall prospect and No. 4 DL in the cycle. The class also features Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot four-star quarterback Carter Smith, the No. 16 QB in the cycle. He’s currently the top commit on the offensive side of the ball for U-M, with Franklin (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves four-star IOL Avery Gach right behind.
