Doctor reveals 'cheat code' for hay fever sufferers with ultimate 'treatment plan'

Hay fever season is causing a lot of people to struggle throughout summer, so a doctor has revealed a ‘cheat code’ for hay fever sufferers with an ultimate ‘treatment plan’ including five steps.

Stay happy and healthy this summer and stop hay fever from affecting your quality of life by following Dr. Noman Mohamed’s allergy advice to prevent hay fever symptoms like itchy eyes, a runny nose, sneezing, and more annoying signs.

Doctor reveals ‘cheat code’ for hay fever sufferers

Dr. Noman Mohamed, known as The Skin Doc or @drnomzzy on TikTok, specializes in cosmetic dermatology and has recently shared his special hay fever ‘cheat code’ tips on social media.

Firstly, the doctor advises buying salt water nasal sprays to rinse pollen from your nose.

Over-the-counter saline sprays and rinses can help remove pollen from the nasal lining. People often use the sprays at the end of the day.

Secondly, the doctor suggests using pollen balms to trap pollen.

Barrier balms are designed to trap dust and pet allergens and more than a third of pollen before it can get in. This way, if fewer allergens get into the body, symptoms will be reduced.

Non-sedating, long-acting antihistamines like Ceterizine, Fexofenadine or Loratidine can also help hay fever, according to Dr. Noman Mohamed.

With the 2024 hay fever season now in full swing, it is a good idea to lock up your home with pollen-proof preventatives including keeping your windows shut and investing in hypoallergenic bedding, to avoid those pesky symptoms.

Follow the ultimate ‘treatment plan’ before desensitization

The fourth ‘cheat code’ tip is to invest in steroid nasal sprays, which address multiple allergic symptoms, including nasal congestion, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes.

In the caption of the viral video, the doctor also suggests wearing wraparound sunglasses to protect your eyes from allergens, viral transmission, and pollutant particles.

Wraparound sunglasses available on Allergy Best Buys help banish itchy “pollen eyes” and protect against viral transmission through the eyes from talking, coughing, and sneezing, as well as providing relief from dry eye soreness.

If you are still suffering from hay fever despite trying all the treatment plan tips, Dr. Noman Mohamed advises desensitization as a last resort.

Pollen desensitization (also known as immunotherapy) is a treatment used for severe hay fever that involves giving regular injections of pollen allergen to ‘reset’ the immune response. Over time, the symptoms improve in most people. But it should always be under medical supervision.
