Stuart Pearce shares whether he thinks Steve Cooper will be a good appointment for Leicester after texting him

Stuart Pearce is a man with his status as a Nottingham Forest legend firmly intact and that’s unlikely to ever change.

The man who captained the club with distinction – and enjoyed a short spell as the manager – is symbolic of what everything playing for Forest should be about.

These days, Pearce is a pundit and can often be found on the television or radio delivering his verdict on a number of different things.

Pearce has claimed that he’s now been in touch withSteve Cooper who left Nottingham Forest in December to wish him well at Leicester.

He’s also shared whether or not he thinks the former Forest man will be a good appointment for those over at the King Power Stadium.

What Stuart Pearce has said about Steve Cooper joining Leicester

Over the years, not too many people have chosen to swap Forest for Leicester.

In truth, Cooper might have fancied another crack at the Premier League after losing his job with Forest back in December.

Now, he has a bit of a point to prove and Pearce has shared how he thinks the 44-year-old will perform in his new role.

He said live on TalkSPORT (24/06: 11:41am): “I have swapped texts with Steve since he got the job.

“Obviously I have been following his career, certainly at Nottingham Forest. When he left the club, I was really disappointed for the club. I thought he had done a really good job there.

“Personally, I think he’s a great appointment for Leicester. I think he will go in there and I think he will keep them in the division.

“I think he has learned a lot from his time at Forest in the Premier League, and I think that will stand him in good stead.

“The way he conducted himself at Forest was commendable, in my world.”

Forest will wish Cooper well but hopefully he won’t have it easy at Leicester

It’s possible to be eternally grateful to Cooper for being the manager to restore Premier League football at the City Ground, yet still hope he fails at Leicester.

To be honest, it’s hard to wish the former manager well when he’s not in charge of not only a rival club but also a rival Premier League club.

Forest have to be brutal in that sense and there will be no time for niceties when the two clubs go head-to-head with each other.

Forest will forever be indebted to Cooper for the work he did to get the club back to where it belongs and then keep it in the top flight.

Now, he’s gone to Leicester and hopefully, Forest fans won’t be getting misty-eyed every time the Foxes have a good Premier League result next season.
