'Got the confirmation': Alasdair Gold says he's heard Tottenham have a 'serious interest' in £25m striker

Tottenham Hotspur are on the market for a new striker this summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s men fell short of a top-four finish after a really poor end to the 2023/24 season. They won just two of their last seven games.

Tottenham will definitely want to do better next season, and Postecoglou will also have the Europa League to focus on.

Spurs, as a result, need to strengthen multiple areas of their squad, and a new centre-forward has to be high up on their agenda.

Alasdair Gold has now shared an update on one of them.

What Alasdair Gold has been told about Tottenham’s interest in Jonathan David

Jonathan David has been linked with a move to Tottenham and a number of other clubs in the Premier League.

TBR Football exclusively revealed on Monday that Spurs are ‘pushing ahead with their hunt for a new striker and made further enquiries’ about the Lille star.

Spurs lost arguably the best striker in the world in Harry Kane in the summer of 2023. Postecoglou decided against signing a replacement for him, but that stance is likely to change now.

David is a very interesting option for Spurs. The Canadian has always been a prolific striker – he scored 26 goals in each of the last two seasons for Lille.

Now, the Brooklyn-born attacker is about to enter the final year of his contract, and Lille’s president has confirmed that David will be allowed to leave.

Gold has had his say about the situation, and he has claimed that his sources have confirmed to him that David is a ‘serious’ target for Spurs.

He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “He is a player of, I’d say, serious interest to Spurs because he has made that shortlist. His contract runs out in 2025 which means he’ll probably be (available for) a lower price tag.

“Some of the talk seems to be around the £25 million mark. But, obviously, he’s at the Copa America right now, so you would imagine things aren’t probably going to kind of smash into the action on that straight away.”

Gold further added: “The other names on the shortlist will come out, they will emerge in the next few days, I’ve no doubts that a couple more will come out.

“I’ve kind of been chasing around today who’s on it and who’s not on, I kind of got the confirmation that Jonathan David was one of them on it.”

Tottenham face competition from Premier League rivals for David

David is expected to be a wanted man this summer.

A 24-year-old striker who has scored over 50 goals in the last two seasons being available for around £25 million makes him a very attractive option for interested parties.

Tottenham would love to sign David, but TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in signing him this summer.

West Ham United and Aston Villa are also said to be in the race to sign the Canadian this summer.

It will be interesting to see what will happen after the Copa America, but David would be a very good signing for all of the above clubs.
