Report: Aston Villa have approached Italian club about the availability of player with 'incredible pace'

According to a recent report, The Villans have made an approach to sign a very quick player from Serie A.

Unai Emery’s side have been very active in the transfer market as they look to assemble a squad capable of competing in the illustrious Champions League.

They are set to announce the signings of Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea and Ian Maatsen in the coming days following Lewis Dobbin’s switch from Everton.

Now, they’re reportedly after a very quick left-back.

Aston Villa enquire about Luca Pellegrini

Aston Villa have made contact to sign Lazio left-back Luca Pellegrini, according to La Repubblica, via La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Pellegrini joined the Rome-based club last summer on loan from Juventus with an obligation to buy but could still be on the move this summer.

West Ham have also asked Lazio for information about his availability, though, with Champions Legaue football on the horizon, Villa are expected to be the favourites in that battle.

The one-cap Italy international, who has ‘incredible pace’ as per Breaking The Lines, made just eight league starts last season as he played the deputy role to Igor Tudor.

Luca Pellegrini may be integral to Lazoi next season

After Maurcio Sarri’s departure from Lazio, Pellegrini is now expected to be a key member of Marco Baroni’s squad.

That could cause a spanner in the works for Villa, who may have to pay a premium to convince the Serie A club into a sale.

Perhaps they’re better looking elsewhere at a younger full-back who can play back-up to Ian Maatsen. Peterborough United’s Harrison Burrows, 22, should be a name considered.

As should Luton Town’s Alfie Doughty, who will likely be eager to return to the Premier League after having a productive season.
