Report: Aston Villa make contact to sign £52m playmaker with 17 goal involvements last season

According to a recent report, The Villans are eyeing a highly-rated playmaker from LaLiga.

Aston Villa have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer, with a number of deals set to go through.

Douglas Luiz is about to join Juventus with Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea heading to Villa Park in a swap deal.

Omari Kellyman has almost completed his move to Chelsea whilst fellow young talent Tim Iroegbunam has made the permanent switch to Everton.

Now, it seems the club are eager to add a creative midfielder to their ranks.

Aston Villa make contact to sign Brais Mendez

According to the Daily Express, Aston Villa have made contact to sign Real Sociedad playmaker Brais Mendez.

The 27-year-old netted eight times whilst laying on nine assists for the LaLiga outfit last term, taking his total goal involvements to an impressive 17.

The Villans have made contact with his representatives to understand whether he’d be open to a move to the West Midlands.

Sociedad have him tied down to a contract until 2028 and he is believed to have a £52m release clause, as per Football Today, so it won’t be an easy deal to do.

Aston Villa face competition

Aston Villa face stiff competition for his signature with Manchester United, Juventus and Roma all credited with interest.

Emery will be hopefully his compatriot opts to ply his trade at Villa Park, where former LaLiga star Pau Torres is currently flourishing.

The left-footed playmaker has made four appearances for the Spanish national team but hasn’t been selected since 2021.

As such, he isn’t away at the European Championships in Germany which makes negotiations a lot more straightforward between all parties.
