'Very close': Inter Miami attacker now set to leave on loan, he's not played once this season - journalist

An Inter Miami attacker is reportedly close to leaving the Herons on loan having not played a single minute this season.

The summer transfer window is upon us, with Inter Miami now able to bring in players as well as offload those who are yet to make an impact this season, with the Florida franchise sat top of the Supporters’ Shield standings.

With the likes of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos linked with Inter Miami, it’s clear that Tata Martino’s side are looking at defensive recruitments, having lost star center-back Nicolas Freire to a season-ending ACL injury.

And it appears that Inter Miami are close to their first piece of outgoing business this summer.

Emerson Rodriguez close to joining Vasco da Gama loan move

According to journalist Daniel Morais, Inter Miami winger Emerson Rodriguez is set to join Vasco da Gama on loan, with the Colombian winger not appearing once for the Herons this season.

Morais wrote: “Striker Emerson Rodriguez, from Inter Miami, who was at Millonarios, is very close to Vasco. The player should come to Brazil next week to undergo tests. The loan is in good shape.”

Currently out on loan with Colombian giants Millonarios, Rodriguez was not given a single chance by Martino with the 23-year-old heading back to his home country on loan in the winter transfer market.

And now, it appears that Rodriguez is heading out on yet another loan deal, though rumors suggest that Vasco do hold an option to sign the Inter Miami winger on a permanent deal at the end of the year.

Clean Inter Miami departure is needed for Rodriguez this summer

Whilst still only a loan move, there’s enough evidence to suggest that Rodriguez will be heading out of Inter Miami for good this summer, with Vasco a good move for the attacker having impressed this year at Millonarios.

And for the Herons, this is a transfer that should have been arranged in the January transfer window, with Rodriguez simply too good to be held around on the books whilst out on loan in Colombia.

However, signs all now seem to suggest that the winger is heading out of Inter Miami for good, and for Rodriguez, the forward will be excited to start rebuilding his career for good away from Florida.
