Lamine Yamal says what he loves about Man City’s Rodri after playing with him at Euro 2024

Manchester City have one of the strongest squads in European football.

Having won six major domestic and European trophies over the past two seasons, Pep Guardiola’s side have established themselves as one of the best sides in the world right now.

After winning their sixth Premier League title in seven years, 14 figures from the City squad have found themselves being selected to represent their countries in the current European Championship taking place in Germany.

With the group stage of the tournament almost over, one of the biggest stars has highlighted a particular aspect that he admires from having played with one of City’s key players.

Lamine Yamal shares what impresses him about Rodri

In a recent video shared on the Euro 2024 TikTok channel, Lamine Yamal was asked to build his dream winger by selecting certain players based on particular attributes such as speed, shooting, crossing, one-v-one ability, first touch, physicality and defending.

On the first touch pick, the Barcelona winger picked Rodri.

Rodri is one of the best midfielders in the world

Out of the three games Spain have played in the Euros this summer, Yamal and Rodri both started the first two against Italy and Croatia.

Looking back over the previous Premier League campaign, Rodri racked up more touches of the ball (3988) than any other player in the division.

With that, the midfielder only miscontrolled the ball 23 times, leaving 166 players in the league who failed to gain control of the ball on more occasions.

This makes it easy to see why Yamal has picked his international teammate for his first touch when building his ideal winger.

In fact, back in May, Bernardo Silva said that Rodri has absolutely everything in his game, including what he can do on and off the ball for his side, which further highlights how much of an impressive footballer he is.
