Lionel Messi has just been asked to help lure £100,000-a-week Tottenham player to Spain this summer

Lionel Messi has now been asked to help with getting a Tottenham player to leave N17 for Spain this summer.

It goes without saying that the Argentina international – who boasts a record eight Ballon d’Ors – is the most influential player in world football, and he has now been called upon to get a fellow South American out of Spurs.

So, who could Lionel Messi help leave Tottenham this summer? Let’s take a look…

Marc Bartra asks Lionel Messi for help in Giovani Lo Celso pursuit

Marc Bartra has now told the Inter Miami No.10 to tell Giovani Lo Celso to leave Tottenham for Real Betis this summer.

The Real Betis No.15 was replying to Messi on Instagram – as the Argentine celebrated his 37th birthday whilst on international duty alongside the Tottenham No.18 at the Copa America.

Bartra wrote: “Happy birthday Leo!! 🧸 😍 🐐 and tell the one wearing the cap backwards (Lo Celso) to come yaa 💚 🙄 🤩”

The green heart is emblematic of the colours of Real Betis, for those wondering.

Real Betis – who actually sold Lo Celso to Tottenham in a £27.2m deal back in January 2020 – were said to be dreaming of the South American returning to Seville in the January window just gone, although a deal did not materialise.

However, the £100,000-a-week man now seems likely to leave Spurs this summer, after deciding that an exit would be best for his career, taking the same decision as Bryan Gil.

Tottenham need to sell the Argentine this summer

Regardless of whether Lo Celso moves to Real Betis or another club, Spurs have to sanction a permanent exit this summer – or else they risk losing the £27.2m asset for nothing.

The 28-year-old only has 12 months remaining on his contract with Tottenham, and while there is still a fairly high volume of interest in his services, Spurs need to cash in.

Aston Villa are also believed to be keen on signing Lo Celso, while there are admirers in the Saudi Pro League too.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we would be very surprised if the man from Rosario does not leave Tottenham this summer.
