Over the weekend, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope traveled to Maryland’s DeMatha Catholic High School where he saw seven-foot, 225-pound center Eric Reibe in action at the DMV Live event. A few days later, Reibe announced an offer from the Wildcats.
Reibe posted the news to social media on Tuesday, saying “After a great zoom call with Coach Pope and staff, I am extremely blessed to receive an offer from the University of Kentucky #GoBigBlue”. Considered the No. 38 overall recruit from the class of 2025 by the On3 Industry Ranking, Reibe is the second center in this cycle to receive a Kentucky scholarship, joining in-state four-star Malachi Moreno.
Along with Pope, Kentucky assistant coaches Jason Hart and Cody Fueger were also in attendance to watch Reibe play.
Suiting up for The Bullis School (MD), Reibe has already taken official visits to Creighton, Iowa, and Ohio State. Looking ahead, he has one upcoming official to Oregon in early August. The likes of Michigan, LSU, Indiana, and Baylor are also in the mix. Reibe told On3’s Jamie Shaw earlier this month that he would like to be done with his recruiting process by the beginning of his senior year.
Following an impressive spring on the Puma Pro16 Circuit, Reibe — a native of Germany — has seen his stock take a jump in the right direction.
“I’m very versatile,” he told On3. “I can play inside or outside, I can pass, I feel like I can shoot it, bring it up, defensive rebound, or play out of the post. My physicality and defense have improved a lot this AAU season, I can tell.”
Pope will have some ground to make up in this recruitment, but Reibe appears willing to hear out Kentucky’s pitch.
