Report: Real Madrid make their decision over if they want Rafael Varane after Inter Miami links

Real Madrid have reportedly given their verdict on re-signing Raphael Varane this summer, amid rumors that Inter Miami are interested in the defender.

The 31-year-old center-back is currently a free agent having left Manchester United at the end of his contract, with Varane regarded as one of the best defenders in the world despite a slew of fitness problems in the last two years.

A four-time UEFA Champions League winner and FIFA World Cup champion, there’s good reason why Inter Miami are believed to be interested in signing Varane, though the Herons already face competition, in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo’s side Al-Nassr.

And Madrid have now made their decision over if they want to take Varane back this summer.

Real Madrid turn down chance to re-sign Inter Miami target Varane

According to Defensa Central, Los Blancos have rejected the chance to bring Varane back to the Bernabeu, potentially opening the door for Inter Miami to sign the former French international this summer.

With a return to Madrid now off the table, Inter Miami now seemingly only have one real threat in the battle to sign Varane, that being Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr.

Indeed, a move to the Middle East could be appealing to Varane, with Saudi Arabia expected to pump even more money into big-money signings this summer after last year’s revelation.

Yet for Inter Miami, they need to assert their newfound prestige in the market by winning the race for Varane, a transfer that could be massive for the Herons both on and off the pitch this summer.

Inter Miami have the motivation needed to move for Varane this summer

Signing Varane could be one of the biggest transfers Inter Miami ever pull off in this era of the club, with the defender exactly what the Herons are looking for in regards to a big-name summer recruit.

And with Madrid out of the race to sign Varane, Inter Miami now have all the motivation they need to move for the former United star, who could be swayed with a move to Florida this summer.

MLS is growing in the right direction after Inter Miami’s move for Lionel Messi last year, and Varane could be interested in building this new legacy with the Herons this summer.
