‘I’m back’: Injured Chelsea player tells supporters he is ready to return on social media

If there was anything that derailed Chelsea’s efforts in the Premier League and beyond last season, it is fair to say injuries were the major factor.

No one was hit by issues more than the Blues were, with both their captain and vice-captain missing the majority of the campaign.

Reece James and Ben Chilwell were just two of those who many believe would be in the best possible Chelsea team, with some of their summer signings brought in to boost their squad hardly featuring either.

Christopher Nkunku impressed in his performances, although they were extremely limited, whilst Romeo Lavia was only able to feature for a single half of football all season.

This has left some confident that no matter what happens in the current transfer window, having some of their top players back fit and available will feel like a boost in itself.

Wesley Fofana says he’s back

One player who didn’t play a single minute last season was Wesley Fofana, with him struggling bad with injuries pretty much ever since he made the move to Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman himself has given a hint that he is pushing close to a return though, which is no doubt extremely exciting to supporters.

He has changed his Instagram bio to simply say “I’m back”.

Fofana has huge chance in pre-season

The upcoming pre-season tour of the United States gives him the best possible opportunity to prove to new manager Enzo Maresca that he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet next season.

Fofana will have the chance to feature alongside a number of the other first team defenders during the friendly matches, however the partnership most are excited to see is him and Levi Colwill.

The duo have never featured alongside each other before, however the athleticism that backline possesses would allow them to play a much higher line than before.
