Report: Cesc Fabregas' club want to bring in ‘amazing’ Chelsea player this summer

One Chelsea legend is set for his first role in management next summer after spending a spell as an assistant.

Cesc Fabregas is set to takeover at Como, after he was not seen as a candidate quite yet to take the recently vacant role at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, former Leicester City bossEnzo Maresca was deemed the best possible replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, with the long contract he has been handed suggesting there is real optimism about their future under him.

There is already a lot of talk over what the first team will look like under the Italian, and which players who played a big role under the former boss will not be part of the squad for next season.

One player who got his chance under Pochettino to shine was Alfie Gilchrist, with the former boss describing him as ‘amazing’ after he made an instant impact.

Fabregas’ Como want to sign Alfie Gilchrist on loan

It looks as if he is available for a loan away this summer, and according to The Athletic, Fabregas’ Como are keen on bringing him in on loan.

The Serie A side are not the only ones who are interested in a deal for the defender, with it being previously claimed that Championship side Leeds United were keen on bringing him.

Gilchrist open to Leeds loan

Reports have stated that despite the old rivalry between the two clubs, Gilchrist is happy to make the move there in order to progress his career.

There is still definitely a spot in the first team up for grabs at the back, with Thiago Silva recently leaving the club after a sensational four-year spell.

It is believed that Trevoh Chalobah remains up for sale for the right price, however the hope is that the upcoming sale of Ian Maatsen will be enough profit made on homegrown players to not force them to sell another one this summer.
