'Open to staying': Chelsea youngster's future will be decided after talks with Maresca next month - journalist

One Chelsea youngster looks set for showdown talks with Enzo Maresca over his future in July.

Enzo Maresca was appointed as Chelsea manager earlier this month and will have some big decisions to make this summer.

The Italian, of course, will not be able to guarantee everyone game time, so there are likely to be some departures.

The likes of Cesare Casadei, Omari Hutchinson and Alfie Gilchrist, all youngsters, could fall into that category. It has already been claimed that one Premier League club are set to make a bid for Hutchinson.

Chelsea youngster’s future up in the air

Maresca will surely want to have a look at all of his players in pre-season.

However, the 44-year-old will already know what to expect from some members of his squad.

That includes Casadei after working with the midfielder at Leicester City last term.

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Casadei is “open to staying” at Chelsea but the two will discuss his future next month.

Casadei was recalled from his loan at Leicester but was barely used when he got back to Stamford Bridge.

What should Chelsea do with Cesare Casadei?

Casadei does not look like he is going to make it at Chelsea.

As harsh as that sounds, it cannot be forgotten that despite Chelsea’s midfield having some injury problems last season, the Italian still failed to make a single start in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino.

Of course, Pochettino is now gone, and a manager he knows is the man presently in charge.

But Maresca has Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Conor Gallagher all to work with as things stand.

It leaves little room for Casadei, who could even find himself behind another midfielder in Lesley Ugochukwu.

If Chelsea receive a good offer for the 21-year-old this summer, then, they should accept it. If not, then another loan should not be ruled out either.
