Chelsea should now look to keep £30m player linked with exit after recent transfer developments - opinion

There’s already been several ups and downs in this summer transfer window for Chelsea.

One transfer saga in particular should lead the Blues to rethink the future of certain players.

Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise, 22, was strongly linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Unfortunately, The Athletic claimed last week that Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign French right-winger Olise because the finances involved were considered beyond reach.

Following this recent development of no longer pursuing Olise, Chelsea need to have a serious look at their right wing position.

There could be a strong argument to suggest the Blues can cope without Olise. In fact, there may not need to sign a new winger.

Chelsea should keep £30m player

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks the club should consider keeping Omari Hutchinson.

There’s speculation about the 20-year-old Blues youngster possibly being sold this summer, but he could be a great option if he’s added to the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke is a great option on the right wing. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer can play there if needed.

But we’d like to see Hutchinson integrated into the senior group to compete alongside Madueke for a spot in the XI.

Football.London has recently claimed that Ipswich Town are soon expected to make their move to try sign Chelsea winger Hutchinson. Apparently, the Blues will ask for around £30m for his sale and a permanent exit is a serious option.

Our suggestion is for the club to block any interest in Hutchinson and include him in plans for next season.

Why Omari Hutchinson could be a great option

Now that the Olise deal is dead in the water, Chelsea could have a great alternative sat right in front of them.

Hutchinson, who’s only 20, could be great competition for Madueke next year.

He spent last year on a season-long loan at Ipswich, where he played an important role in them securing promotion from the Championship. The left-footed attacker ended up with 11 goals and six assists across all competitions.

On paper, the direct winger could be a great fit for the style and system of new head coach Enzo Maresca.

If you can’t break into Chelsea’s squad after such a great year out on loan, it won’t motivate other youngsters to follow that path.
