‘There are a few’: Alan Myers confirms that there is now ‘serious interest’ in £50m Everton player

Whilst it is wholly enjoyable to welcome in transfer after transfer, Everton will know better than most the dangers of this tactic.

After all, misspending Farhad Moshiri’s vast fortune is what has resulted in their present-day PSR nightmare, which remains prevalent even today.

So, if they are to sign a whole host of new faces, some sales will simply have to be sanctioned to ensure that the books remain balanced.

Alan Myers has now hinted at who that might be.

Alan Myers confirms who could leave Everton this summer

The revered journalist very often only offers his verdict on Everton matters when they are just about to be completed, or very concrete.

As such, when he speaks, Evertonians largely listen.

That would therefore explain why so many send their questions to him on X, seeking to gain a greater insight into their club.

On this occasion, the fan in question posed a transfer-related query, wondering about how serious the reported interest in Amadou Onana is, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona just two of the clubs potentially interested.

Well, Myers’ reply was short but hugely informative: ‘I think there are a few clubs showing serious interest’.

Amadou Onana will thrive wherever he goes

Realistically, whoever signs Onana will be acquiring one of the hottest young properties in Europe, regardless of the price they pay.

And, as is often the case with these better teams, the football they play will likely be far more expansive than that of Sean Dyche’s side.

So, to welcome the Belgian into a system like Bayern Munich or Barcelona’s would surely see him thrive, given just how silky he is on the ball for someone with such a fine stature.

Onana is a physical marvel, standing at 6 foot 3, but with the technical skillset of a tricky number ten.

However, the trouble is that with the Toffees, he seldom gets the chance to flex his creative muscles.

And yet, he still managed an 85% pass accuracy despite often being encouraged to go long, with 0.6 key passes per game too. He would combine this with true solidity, and when compared to other midfielders across Europe, he sat in the top 8% for tackles and the top 6% for aerials won per 90.

For a high-quality side, the 22-year-old would surely grow into a monster in the engine room.

So, this potential exit might be a mutually beneficial one, given Dyche clearly favours a more workmanlike alternative.
