Midfielder left shocked after being let go by Celtic and sends message to fans

Celtic winger, Sead Haksabanovic, has now left the club and joined Swedish champions Malmo this afternoon.

Signed by Ange Postecoglou in 2022, Haksabanovic was brought to the club to bring width to the Celtic attack but after a season of being in and out of the team, he let his frustrations get the better of him.

At the beginning of Brendan Rodgers’ second tenure at Celtic, the Montenegro international took to social media to voice his displeasure at not being ‘valued’ at the club in a move that would signal the beginning of the end of his Hoops career.

Haksabanovic was sent out on loan to Stoke City where he made 21 appearances scoring just once and creating one as he struggled to show his value to the Championship side.

Returning to Celtic in the summer, Haksabanovic has now sealed his Parkhead exit and has penned a goodbye message to the Hoops support.

Haksabanovic’s dig at ‘some other people’ at Celtic

The 25-year-old attacker is now part of Swedish champions, Malmo’s squad after sealing his Celtic exit and in a message to the fans, he seems to admit he’s surprised to have been let go and used social media to take another dig at Brendan Rodgers.

Haksabanovic said [Instagram], “So my time at Celtic has come to an end, earlier than I thought, expected & wanted but some other people had another opinion & I gotta respect that.

“I wanna thank the players, the staff & the fans because that is really what Celtic is about. We made some good memories together & I will always have love for Celtic.

“Good luck & Celtic are f—–g massive everywhere they go. All the best for the future.”

In his first full season under Ange Postecoglou, the Swedish-born winger failed to establish himself as a regular first-team player.

In 42 appearances, Haksabanovic failed to finish one full 90-minute game in the green and white Hoops as he was either utilised as an impact player or failed to make a difference whenever he started for Celtic. [Transfermarkt]

Five goals and four assists was a poor return by the player and now that he has left the club, Haksabanovic can look to resurrect not only his domestic career but also his flailing international one.
