Tottenham have just had a bid rejected for £70,000-a-week player compared to Jack Grealish - journalist

Years on from Tottenham submitting a failed player-plus cash bid to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, Spurs have now faltered with a similar offer for a star compared to the England international.

Spurs famously saw a measly £3m offer – along with Josh Onomah – rejected for the Aston Villa academy graduate back in 2018 as Daniel Levy attempted to take advantage of financial issues at Villa Park, before Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens swiftly took over and fended off interest, as detailed by The Athletic.

Now, Tottenham have sent yet another unsuccessful player-plus-cash bid to Aston Villa for a midfielder compared to Jack Grealish

Tottenham see Jacob Ramsey offer rejected by Aston Villa

A story from Matt Maher of the Express & Star now claims that Tottenham have seen a bid rejected to sign Aston Villa No.41 Jacob Ramsey.

It is said that Spurs offered the Villans £20m as well as Giovani Lo Celso.

However, Unai Emery still views Ramsey as a vital part of his squad, and has no intention of allowing the 23-year-old to leave Villa Park this summer.

Despite an injury-hit 2023/24 campaign, the Birmingham-born midfielder is still a tremendous prospect, scoring six goals while also providing seven assists across 35 Premier League appearances in the 2022/23 campaign, when he was fully fit.

Birmingham Live have even compared the £70,000-a-week Ramsey to Grealish, such is his eye for goal and impressive dribbling ability.

Unai Emery may still take Giovani Lo Celso

Interestingly, Aston Villa have actually been mentioned as one of the clubs keen to sign Lo Celso this summer.

It was The Sun who claimed that the Villans are interested in the Argentina international, with Emery specifically described as being a huge admirer of the South American.

Therefore, even if Ramsey is kept at Villa Park, Aston Villa could still enquire about a separate deal to just take Lo Celso, who Spurs do have an urgent need to sell this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
