Arsenal fans are begging Arteta to sign ‘excellent’ talent after what he just did at Euro 2024

Arsenal fans have sent Mikel Arteta a clear transfer message after a rumoured target’s performance today at Euro 2024.

The summer transfer window has been open for the best part of two weeks, though as has been the case with the majority of big clubs around Europe, Arsenal have done no business with all the attention currently on the Euros and now the Copa America.

That hasn’t stopped Arsenal from being linked with a number of players at the Euros, though, with the north London side believed to be scouting Turkey international Arda Guler, as well as keeping tabs on Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves.

Arsenal fans in awe as Joao Neves impresses for Portugal

Despite losing to 2-0, Arsenal supporters were in awe with what they saw from Neves, who showcased why he is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in world football after his display for Portugal.

Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about the teenage midfielder on Twitter.

One fan wrote: “Joao Neves to The Arsenal for much less than £100m? Sounds good to me.”

Another supporter said on Neves’ performance for Portugal: “I need Joao Neves at Arsenal. I’ll pay the £100m myself. (Just don’t ask for the check to truly clear.)”

Hailed as ‘excellent’ by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, it’s easy to see why interest is high in Neves after his breakthrough year for club and country, with the midfielder showing against Georgia why he’s so highly rated.

And Arsenal fans were seemingly in awe with the teenager’s performance, with Neves adding a few million to his value after tonight’s performance.

One Arsenal supporter posted: “Joao Neves. What a player. Get Arteta on the phone!”

Another Gooner wrote on Twitter: “Joao Neves is different. Plays like a veteran. Understands the game perfectly.”

Arsenal should intensify interest in Neves after the Euros

Few would have guessed Neves was only 19-years-old based on today’s performance for Portugal, with the midfielder showcasing a maturity that few can muster at such a young age in football.

And once the Euros are done and dusted, Arsenal would be wise to intensify their interest in Neves, who could be an exceptional long-term addition to Arteta’s squad and to a midfield consisting of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Indeed, the teenager would cost a pretty penny, but given how impressive Neves was for a losing side at a major tournament, the teenager clearly has the potential to go far at the highest level.

Arsenal winners and losers at Euro 2024

In this week’s episode, Will Jones and Rahul Lakhani discussed the first few days of the European Championships. With Arsenal players such as Kai Havertz and Kieran Tierney experiencing mixed starts to the tournament, the pair assessed which Gunners were the winners and losers from the group stages so far.

There was some talk about transfers based off the Euros, with Arsenal-linked Amadou Onana’s display for Belgium discussed, whilst Leandro Trossard’s poor performance was analysed, and Bukayo Saka’s sensational England showing lauded.
