'From what I'm told': Journalist shares the latest he's heard about Beto exit rumours

Speculation has been rife over who will leave Everton this summer, and despite it being the dominant narrative before the transfer window, Kevin Thelwell has managed to shift it.

Now welcoming stars into Goodison Park rather than being forced to watch them depart, it has been so enjoyable, and marks the dawn of a fresh era of newfound positivity at the club.

The takeover seems set to sail into effect soon, and Iliman Ndiaye will mark Everton’s third signing of the summer too.

However, there inevitably must come a time when this bubble bursts, and that will inevitably come with a sale.

The real question remains though: who will leave Everton this summer?

Will Beto leave Everton this summer?

Whilst Manchester United still want Jarrad Branthwaite, and Amadou Onana’s future remains unsure, it almost feels like Everton are more likely to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin than any, given his contract expires next year.

Already one move has fallen through for the Englishman, and with other Premier League clubs still sniffing around, movement is expected.

Should that occur, it would leave Sean Dyche with just Beto and Youssef Chermiti as his striking options going into the club’s final year at Goodison Park.

Not to mention that the former of that Portuguese duo has also been touted to depart, with Fenerbahce’s interest in Beto well-documented.

However, the latest on his future comes courtesy of journalist David Anderson, who offered a simple but crucial update on the 26-year-old: ‘From what I’m told, Everton are in talks with Marseille over Iliman Ndiaye, but are not speaking to Fenerbahce over Beto’

Beto or Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

So, with Beto and Calvert-Lewin both linked with exits, and there being various ups and downsides to their respective departures, it seems Dyche has a decision to make.

Naturally, throughout last season, he favoured the former Sheffield United man, preferring his more controlled play style which helped bring others into play.

However, the Portuguese alternative cannot be disregarded, with his chaotic style impossible to deny even if it only commanded a five-goal haul all season.

Nobody was particularly prolific for the Toffees last season, and the hope is that Ndiaye will help tie together a disjointed attack to go with their impenetrable defence.

But it seemingly remains uncertain who the 24-year-old will play beside.

Calvert-Lewin has a history of featuring in a two-striker formation with Richarlison, and is the far safer option on the pitch, but his precarious contract situation might make Beto the logical financial decision in the long-term.
