Marc Cucurella makes Euro 2024 team of the group stages

Chelsea’s Cucurella has certainly made a brilliant start in this summer’s international competition.

The 25-year-old defender is part of a Spain squad that went through the group stages with a 100 per cent win record. He started and impressed in victories over Croatia and Italy, while he was rested along with other key starters for the Albania win.

WhoScored has shared via X its team of the group stages at Euro 2024. Cucurella is one of two Spanish players included in the side.

Has the £60m player now arrived?

Chelsea coughed up a huge £60m transfer fee (Sky Sports) when they signed Cucurella from Brighton in 2022. It’s certainly feels like the valuation has weighed heavily on him ever since.

He’s still got some way to go before justifying that price, but there’s no doubt he’s turned the corner in the last few months.

First, Cucurella finished last season very strongly in Chelsea colours. The aggressive left-back started the final 12 Premier League matches and found a real consistency in his game.

Now, he’s rocked up with Spain at the Euros and looks so comfortable on a massive stage.

Let’s hope Cucurella can continue a great summer and take this into next year at Stamford Bridge.

Described as “fantastic” by Frank Leboeuf via ESPN in 2023, Cucurella is proven to everyone he’s a quality operator at full-back.
