3-step anti-aging treatment is 'painful' but it's worth it, says neuroscientist

There are plenty of ways to achieve a younger-looking skin. While diet and lifestyle play an important role in aging, there are different treatments to make you look less aged.

A neuroscientist swears by a 3-step treatment he got to look young, which comes with several benefits. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, the full effects of the treatment appear within a few weeks to months.

Neuroscientist reveals his favorite anti-aging treatment

Neuroscientist and Alzheimer’s researcher Dr. Robert Love discusses the anti-aging treatment of PRP (platelet-rich plasma), his “favorite.”

He created the video before getting PRP injected into his face and scalp. The procedure results in the production of collagen – a type of protein that stimulates the growth of hair, skin, bones, and more.

Dr. Robert planned to get the treatment on his face to reduce wrinkles and around his hairline to preserve his hair. While the cosmetic procedure produces long-lasting results, you can keep your skin from aging by watching your diet and lifestyle too.

In a different video, Dr. Robert recommends avoiding drinking three specific drinks that make you look older. Premature aging can also be caused by three common skincare mistakes.

If you’re looking for a quick fix to dull skin, one ingredient is all it takes to achieve a “glass-like” glow overnight.

How PRP works

AAD notes PRP “appears safe”, but it can cause a bit of pain and swelling once the procedure is finished. The side effects go away naturally in a few days.

For the unversed, here’s how the procedure is done:

  • About 2 to 4 tablespoons of blood is drawn from your arm.
  • The drawn blood is placed in a medical device called a centrifuge. It separates your blood into different layers, including one with a high concentration of platelets.
  • The final step involves a dermatologist injecting the platelets into your face or scalp with microneedling.

PRP boasts several benefits. It reduces wrinkles, plumps up sagging skin, gets rid of deep creases, improves the skin’s complexion, and diminishes acne scars.

As with all cosmetic surgeries, PRP is safe when conducted by a licensed practitioner. John Hopkins‘s website labels it a “low-risk procedure” without major side effects. As it involves drawing blood, ensure you are hydrated and eaten beforehand.
