‘Hopefully’: John Kennedy tells the Celtic fans when they can expect the club’s first summer signings

As the Celtic players return to Lennoxtown to begin pre-season training, John Kennedy was on media duty to give the fans an update on where the club are in terms of summer signings.

The Celtic assistant boss recognised the need for the club to bring in a new goalkeeper after the retirement of Joe Hart.

Whilst admitting that ‘targets have been identified’, there is still no news on where the club are at in terms of announcing any new signings.

Until now. In a press conference held in Lennoxtown, Kennedy hinted that new signings could be announced soon as he gave a slight timeline on when fans can expect news.

A ‘lot of conversations’ are happening at Celtic

The Hoops assistant looked calm and relaxed regarding the lack of signings and whilst the fans may well be getting nervous.

And when asked about the possibility of signing Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo, Kennedy hinted that ‘a few things’ will happen in ‘the coming weeks’.

Kennedy said [Sky Sports Scotland], “I think there’s a lot of conversations happening. It’s a time when a lot of players have been on holiday and different things have been happening.

“A lot of conversations have been taking place. We come back for pre-season and hopefully, in the coming weeks a few things will start to happen but there’s a lot of plates spinning and a lot of work getting done.

“Hopefully we’ll start to see that start to materialise over the coming weeks.”

With recent chat surrounding Dominik Livakovic being rubbished by the Croatian’s PR Manager and Caoimhin Kelleher now looking too expensive for Celtic, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of progress in finding Hart’s replacement.

The Celtic players were pictured returning to Lennoxtown this morning and with Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist the only recognised goalkeepers at the club, the fans will not be happy with either starting the season considering they both got next to no game time last season.

So all fingers will be crossed that the all-important signings for Celtic in all key areas of the team will be made as soon as possible to help preparations for the new season to go smoothly.
