West Ham reportedly set ridiculous £38 million asking price for 28-year-old

The West Ham United owners are making some ludicrous demands for one of their players this summer it seems.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are working in tandem to strengthen the West Ham squad before the new season starts.

When David Moyes exited the London Stadium earlier this summer, he left behind an extremely unbalanced and ageing group of players.

Lopetegui has already signed teenage Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, plus the experienced Wes Foderingham to serve as goalkeeping cover.

Many more signings are required, if the Hammers boss is to oversee some genuine progress at the London Stadium.

West Ham are believed to be exploring a big money deal for Wolves defender Max Kilman this summer.

Meanwhile, Sevilla hitman Youssef En-Nesyri remains a high priority transfer target for Lopetegui.

However, in order to sign players like those mentioned above, there will definitely need to be some outgoings as well.

That said, the Hammers will have trouble shifting the latest player to be linked with an exit, due to the fee the owners are demanding for him…

West Ham owners set ridiculous asking price for 28-year-old

Lopetegui reportedly only has £90 million to spend this summer, excluding player sales.

So it makes sense that the Spaniard will be looking to move on certain players, in order to bolster his summer war-chest.

The problem he faces is that the Hammers simply don’t have that many sellable assets at the club right now.

Lucas Paqueta was expected to be our big summer sale, with an £85 million move to Manchester City being mooted.

However, that probably won’t be happening now, after the Brazilian was charged by the FA for potential betting breaches.

The likes of Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Flynn Downes could all be sold, but those three won’t generate massive fees.

There is one player who could bring in some proper money this summer, but maybe not quite as much as the Hammers owners are reportedly expecting!

According to a report from L’Equipe, West Ham have set a quite ridiculous asking price for Nayef Aguerd.

£38 million in fact!

I can almost guarantee you that no club will be paying that kind of money for the 28-year-old centre-back.

Signing Aguerd was said to be the main priority for Lyon this summer, but the Ligue 1 outfit have pulled out of the race due to the Hammers’ extortionate demands.

His agents have apparently already informed West Ham that the centre-back could leave the london Stadium this summer.

Moving the Morocco international on should be a priority for the Hammers. He’s quite simply not good enough for the Premier League, but we should still be able to fetch £20-30 million for him.

The former Rennes defender lacks the physical capabilities needed to succeed at the top level in England.

He has proven time and time again that he has an incredibly poor positional sense and is always susceptible to simple balls over the top.

I think that the West Ham owners are being incredibly ambitious by asking for £38 million for Nayef Aguerd this summer, and that’s being polite!
