Report: Major Lopetegui boost as Chelsea leave door open for West Ham to sign exceptional 28-yo

Chelsea have seemingly handed West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui a major summer transfer window boost.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui needs to bring at six new players to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window as a bare minimum.

The good news is that’s the amount of new signings he’s said to be targeting this summer.

Whilst the Spaniard needs to strengthen pretty much every single department of his squad, the addition of a top-class striker is arguably his most pressing priority.

West Ham have been linked with numerous top-class strikers already this summer, including the likes of Youssef En-Nesyri, Simon Banza and Tammy Abraham.

There is one man out there who is head and shoulders above the rest though, and he could well be attainable for West Ham this summer…

Chelsea hand West Ham a big summer transfer window boost

The Hammers badly need to sign a top-class centre-forward this summer, and now we seemingly have a good chance of doing just that.

Serhou Guirassy has been in stunning form out in Germany this season, so it’s no surprise that West Ham apparently want to sign him by activating his £15 million release clause.

According to Sky Germany, Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign the prolific 28-year-old Stuttgart hitman.

The bad news is that Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Arsenal are still keen on Guirassy, but our job will be a lot easier than it was when Chelsea wanted him.

If there is one striker who West Ham should be trying to sign, it’s the Guinea international.

He was on fire in Germany last term, with 30 goals in 30 games to his name (Transfermarkt), and he ended up behind only Harry Kane in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts.

Guirassy is a devastating striker who has pace and power in abundance, and he’d undoubtedly take us to a whole new level inside the final third.

Can you just imagine the Guinean playing alongside Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus!

With Chelsea now out of the race for the 28-year-old’s signature, West Ham should have every chance of signing him in the summer transfer window.

Let’s hope Tim Steidten and Lopetegui manage to get it done.
