'Today': Fabrizio Romano has just shared big Khvicha Kvaratskhelia update

Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United are just three of the Premier League clubs that have been linked with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in recent months.

The Reds, the Gunners and the Magpies will no doubt both be eager to bolster their ranks over the summer in pursuit of a more fruitful campaign next time round.

Liverpool and Arsenal fell just short of winning the Premier League title last term following one of the most exciting title races in recent years.

In addition, the Reds now have a new manager on board in Arne Slot, so they’ll be eager to give him all the tools he needs to hit the ground running.

As for the Gunners, they’ve improved with each passing season under Mikel Arteta, and they’ll be desperate to rubber-stamp this with a first title since 2004.

Meanwhile, Newcastle couldn’t build on their fourth-placed finish in 2023, missing out on Europe altogether this year, and will want to put this right.

With regards to links involving Kvaratskhelia, TBR Football sources recently reported that Liverpool have asked the Italian giants about signing him this summer.

Napoli apparently told Liverpool – as well as Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City – that the man from Tiflis is going nowhere this summer.

However, it’s worth remembering that Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, said he and his client would ideally like to leave Naples in the current transfer window.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the reported Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle target. And sadly, it’s not ideal for them or any other suitors.

Napoli travel to Germany to prepare Khvicha Kvaratskhelia contract proposal

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, said Napoli were “on a mission” today.

President Aurelio de Laurentiis travelled to Germany – where the player is currently on Euro 2024 duty – to prepare a contract proposal, said the transfer insider.

“For Kvaratskhelia, today Napoli were on a mission,” began Romano.

“With the president De Laurentiis traveling to Germany to meet with the player and the agent of the player to prepare the new contract proposal.

“Talks will continue after the Euros, so Napoli are absolutely convinced to keep Kvaratskhelia and to offer him a new contract.”

Kvaratskhelia will be a difficult signing to make

Kvaratskhelia really has exploded onto the scene over the past few years, making a name for himself as one of football’s rising stars and helping Napoli to Serie A glory last year.

He’s also shining for Georgia, helping them not only reach their first major tournament, but also reach the last 16 of the competition.

With that in mind, there will no doubt be a lot of interest in Kvaratskhelia, but at the same time, Napoli are clearly not interested in losing him.

It will be interesting to see what the coming weeks have in store for Kvaratskhelia, both on the Euro 2024 front and in terms of his future.

However, there’s no denying that he would be a difficult signing to make this summer – for any club.
