'One to watch': Fabrizio Romano suggests 'dangerous' Newcastle player could be sold in next 48 hours

Newcastle United’s need to offload some players is really needing to be pushed along now with just hours remaining before the PSR deadline.

Eddie Howe‘s side are one of the Premier League clubs who are currently at risk of falling the wrong side of PSR this month.

Player sales could bring Newcastle back on track with the Toon also looking to bring players in the other way over the coming weeks.

The Magpies have been linked with a potential move for players across numerous positions already this summer.

AC Milan defender Malik Thiaw is believed to be a player who has made it on Newcastle’s shortlist as a potential candidate to bolster their defence.

But there is work to be done first in getting players out the doors at St James’ Park and there is one player who fans should be keeping an eye on.

Fabrizio Romano issues Newcastle transfer update

The Toon have made a steady start to this summer’s window with a clear caution surrounding their need to sell before buying.

That did not stop Newcastle from bringing in Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer earlier this month following the end of his deal with Bournemouth.

But several players have been offloaded already as Newcastle ease their wage bill, but the need to bring in cash for some of their players remains.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle youngster Yankuba Minteh is a player to watch out for over the coming days.

A decision is expected to be made on his future on Tyneside over the next 24-48 hours.

Although Ligue 1 side Lyon have made an approach for the 19-year-old is still keen to stay in the Premier League following interest from Everton.

Yankuba Minteh situation taking sour turn

Clearly, Newcastle view Minteh as a real opportunity to bring in a decent amount of money before the end of the month.

The 19-year-old has been hailed by pundit Willen van Hanegem who has spent time out in the Netherlands with Feyenoord.

“That guy is extremely dangerous with his pace. If I were Feyenoord, I would now cast my doubts if he could be rented from Newcastle United for another year,” he wrote for Algemeen Dagblad.

But now it seems they are desperate to get him out of the club before the end of the month with Newcastle bosses believed to have told him he risks training with the U21s if he doesn’t move on.
