Report: Newcastle could look to sell 'unbelievable' Eddie Howe signing, decision to be made after Euro 2024

Newcastle United are going to be forced into selling players this week, but the future of one of their top stars will be decided after this summer’s Euros.

A busy week awaits Eddie Howe‘s side as Newcastle battle the looming PSR deadline at the end of the month.

The Toon are in need of offloading some players to balance the books against the financial regulations or face receiving a penalty like Everton and Nottingham Forest did last season.

One name which has been heavily linked with a departure from St James’ Park in recent days has been the young winger Yankuba Minteh.

Although Newcastle fans are yet to see the Gambian in action, Minteh has been linked with a £40m move to Premier League rivals Everton.

But he may not be the only player who could be heading for the exit door in the coming weeks with one of Howe’s earlier signings set to see his future decided on soon.

Newcastle set to decide on future of Euro 2024 player

Some big decisions are going to have to be made on Tyneside this summer with Newcastle in a position where they need to sell players.

Bruno Guimaraesrelease clause has now passed which provides the Toon with the power over the future of their Brazilian midfielder.

But Newcastle are going to need to offload some players or potentially face being penalised as fans saw last season when points deductions were handed out.

According to i news, there remains an uncertainty surrounding the future of Kieran Trippier‘s future on Tyneside.

As is the case for a number of players at the club, Trippier could be a player who could potentially be moved on this summer with just one year remaining on his current deal.

However, Trippier’s future is not expected to be decided until after this summer’s Euros.

The right-back is currently representing England as they look to secure their spot at the top of their group and place in the knockout rounds tonight.

Time to cash in on Kieran Trippier

Newcastle’s starting right-back has proven to be a smart addition since Howe brought him to Tyneside back in 2022.

However, he has certainly had his issues over recent times with injuries seriously hindering his 2023/24 campaign.

In the early stages of last season, Alan Shearer spoke on The Rest Is Football podcast where he waxed lyrical about Trippier’s crossing ability.

“Some of the balls he was putting into the box were just unbelievable. What a signing he has been for Newcastle, he’s in great form,” he said.

Trippier may still have been able to make 26 starts in the Premier League where he returned an impressive 10 assists and one goal, but there may be questions surrounding whether he can be a reliable option for the years to come.

Even at this summer’s Euros, Trippier has already showed an injury scare after going down in the opening game for England against Serbia.
