Footage shows Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl greeting first-team players upon pre-season return

The Sheffield Wednesday first-team players have now returned for pre-season training.

Sheffield Wednesday players have returned for pre-season training under Danny Rohl; their first pre-season under Rohl.

And for the German, who was recently a pundit on ITV for Euro 2024, it’s his first pre-season as a manager.

Rohl was previously reported to be planning two pre-season camps for Sheffield Wednesday following their miraculous 20th place finish in the Championship last time round.

Owner Dejphon Chansiri will be hoping to see his side achieve a much more comfortable finish next time round, and he’s certainly doing his part so far.

After securing a new three-year contract for Rohl, the Owls have brought in three new players, with Svante Ingelsson expected to be the fourth.

Now, the club has shared a clip of Rohl greeting the first-team players upon their return for pre-season training on Friday.

Sheffield Wednesday players and Danny Rohl return for pre-season

Rohl is now back in the country after his punditry work in Germany, and he’s returned to the Middlewood training ground where he greeted his first-team players.

In the video shared on Sheffield Wednesday’s official X account, the likes of Barry Bannan, Bailey Cadamarteri, and Liam Palmer can all be seen with Rohl.

The Owls now have little over a month until their first league game of the 2024/25 season; a Championship clash vs Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle on August 11th.

Next week, Sheffield Wednesday take on non-league Alfreton Town in their opening pre-season fixture.

The main goal for Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl this summer

With the emotions and hard ache of last season now in the past, Sheffield Wednesday, Rohl and the players can all look forward to next season.

Aside from signing new players in the transfer market and putting together a much stronger first-team, the main aim for Rohl this summer will be to get his players in shape.

We saw last season how intense and fast the style of play can be and Rohl will need to ensure that his players are fit and up for the task next time round.

Having more squad depth will certainly help in that aspect, though how many players the club can realistically sign this summer remains to be seen.

But it’s certainly been a good start to the off-season, with plenty of reason to believe that Sheffield Wednesday can enjoy a much better campaign than last time round.
