Barton Manor Care Home in Wisbech held fun day – with an Italian lunch cooked by chef Theo Michaels

A newly opened care home hosted an open day with a special guest making an appearance.

Barton Manor Care Home in Wisbech held an Italian-themed open day on Tuesday with chef Theo Michaels who cooked up a treat for everyone.

The head chef and kitchen assistant prepared the food with Theo, whose cooking first gained recognition after appearing on Masterchef in 2014.

The whole home got in the spirit as staff were dressed in Italian attire, while the activities manager Michaela and co-ordinator Ashbie decorated the home throughout with flags.

During the afternoon there was music and entertainment including a group called Boots and Strings for the public and residents to enjoy.

Sally Dowers, front of house manager, said: “Everyone enjoyed their meal and Theo was happy chatting to the residents and having his photo taken with them.”

Theo was invited to join the care home for the day when Sally met him at a function in London last year.

She saw an opportunity and asked to chat about coming to do some cooking at Barton Manor Care home in Wisbech part of Danforth Care.

Theo is embarking on an around-the-world journey to all Danforth Care Homes cooking different nation's food at each home.
