Report: Chelsea could pay £27.5m to beat Liverpool to 'very fast' Euro 2024 forward

When it comes to the transfer window, it’s not uncommon to see both Liverpool and Chelsea pop up in the same conversations over certain players.

The English duo have been two of the most active teams in recent windows and going into another summer, are expected to be busy once more.

Chelsea, of course, are busy trying to buy up the very best young talent from around the world as Todd Boehly and co continue to pile money into the club.

Over at Liverpool, a new era is underway underArne Slot, and new signings are expected.

Of course, a number of players are being linked with the Reds.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Joshua Zirkzee, and Nico Willams are all among the potential targets for Liverpool.

However, another potential Reds signing, Max Beier, could now wind up at Chelsea instead, according to German journalist, Christian Falk.

Max Beier now wanted at both Chelsea and Liverpool

Writing in his latest Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, Falk has suggested Beier is a player Chelsea could eventually move for instead of Liverpool.

“Chelsea FC is interested in German international Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim. However, the player is not yet convinced about the change,” Falk said.

“It is not the first club from England to be interested in Beier. Liverpool FC, Everton, Burnley and Brentford also always had him on the list.

“What makes him particularly attractive for England: Beier has a release clause of €32.5m. This is a high sum by German standards, but Premier League clubs can pay it much more easily.

A cheap option in an expensive market

Lauded as a player who is ‘very fast’ and has similar abilities to Thomas Muller, it’s clear that Beier is set for a big future.

Currently at Hoffenheim, Beier scored 16 goals last season and earned himself a place in the German squad at the Euros.

Beier is still only 21 and at less than £30m, could represent a bargain in an age where strikers cost more than ever.

Chelsea and Liverpool, then, could be set for another tussle here.
