Report: One Man City player is now a top transfer target for two European clubs this summer

Numerous players have left Manchester City to join other clubs in recent years.

For example, names such as Ilkay Gundogan, Cole Palmer, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium in previous transfer windows to start new chapters elsewhere.

Now that another summer transfer window has opened for business, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding two European clubs who have set their sights on landing a deal for one current City star.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain eyeing Julian Alvarez as top summer transfer target

According to a recent report from Caught Offside, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have prioritised Julian Alvarez as a top transfer target for this summer window.

City should not consider selling Alvarez

Back in the 2022 January transfer window, the Blues struck a deal with River Plate to sign the striker for £14m.

Arriving at the Etihad in the following summer window, the 24-year-old has now gone on to complete two seasons at City.

During that time, he has made 103 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, finding the back of the net 36 times and delivering 18 assists in the process.

Having won numerous domestic and European trophies during his time with City, it’s safe to say that not only has Alvarez been an important figure for the Citizens, he’s had a very successful period with them so far as well.

Taking into account how only three other outfield players at the club played more minutes in the Premier League last season than Alvarez, who David Villa recently backed to win the Golden Boot at Copa America this summer, it’s clear that the Argentina international is an important figure for City.

Therefore, regardless of what Barcelona and PSG may end up potentially offering the Manchester club to sign the striker, we feel that the Premier League champions should not consider selling Alvarez this summer.
