103-year-old doctor's powerful message for humanity will change the way you go about life

As we get older, we are said to get wiser, and a 103-year-old doctor has shared a powerful message for humanity that’s truly eye-opening.

Dr. Gladys McGarey is a holistic physician and medical activist who is the daughter of two medical missionaries in India.

In an interview on the T&H Inspiration & Motivation YouTube channel, McGarey said she hopes humans will “continue to walk and reach for our true humanity”.

By this, she means we should all share understanding and kindness toward each other, and practice love, compassion, sympathy, and empathy.

The doctor said we should find others doing the same thing and form community, because community is “really, really important”.

She added that we need to make it our duty to teach children about humanity, including love, death and the process of life.

McGarey said it’s the people who never experienced love and death who go on to hurt others, like murderers.

“If a child has never experienced love and death, how are they going to understand what they are doing?” she said.

The 103-year-old said explaining love to someone who doesn’t know what it is is like trying to teach a blind person about the color green.

So, we must ensure each and every person grows up experiencing humanity to make the world a better place.

Doctor’s idea to teach children about humanity

She shared a theory that putting dogs in classrooms would teach children the humanity that they need in life.

“I think if we put dogs as guardian dogs in classrooms, we might be able to help these children to do something about this spot in their psyche which has never been healed,” the doctor said.

Dogs could teach them about love and compassion, and if the dog died, the children would understand the idea of living beings.

Better Help says we should all strive to be good, empathetic, honest, fair and responsible individuals as the way we act can have a huge effect on our lives and others around us.

Being a good person can affect your career, opportunities and relationships, and give you a sense of purpose in life.
