'Leaving': Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed club will not be signing £4m Leeds player this summer

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the club in which one Leeds United player will not be joining this summer.

With Leeds returning to pre-season next week, work is ramping up behind-the-scenes regarding player exits with two already confirmed, and another few potentially set to follow.

After official confirmation of Jack Harrison and Marc Roca’s moves, Jamie Shackleton, Charlie Cresswell and potentially Liam Cooper look as though they will be next.

Shackleton is reportedly close to an agreement with a new club despite the offer of a new deal at Leeds, while Cresswell is on the verge of moving to Toulouse for £3.8 million.

Cooper, meanwhile, also has other offers on the table away from Leeds and the promise of game time could see him end his 10-year stay at Elland Road.

Romano drops major update on Diego Llorente future

With Brenden Aaronson, Harrison and Roca all now having had their futures clarified one way or another, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente are all the only members of Leeds‘ loan army remaining.

Wober and Kristensen are currently away at Euro 2024 with Austria and Denmark respectively, and are not expected to make a decision until afterwards. Both could still return.

Those two, as well as Llorente, do not have the option to leave on loan again and now according to Fabrizio Romano, there has been a major development on the Spaniard’s future.

Writing on his official Twitter account earlier today, Romano has claimed Llorente will be ‘leaving’ AS Roma at the end of his loan spell, as they place a focus on recruiting younger players.

Roma have been mulling over whether to bring him back for a number of weeks now, but it would appear as though they are finally set to make a decision.

Llorente had spent the last 18 months on loan in the Italian capital and news of their decision not to sign him will be a blow to the 30-year-old.

Could Llorente stay at Leeds?

Just like with Wober and Kristensen, nothing can be ruled out with Llorente but it has already been claimed he has told Leeds he wants to leave.

Thankfully for the Spaniard, it does look as though he has another decent option on the table, with Real Betis keen on signing him.

Betis are reportedly prepared to make a permanent offer to sign Llorente this summer and believe they can convince him to return to Spain, with Leeds rumoured to have set an asking price of £4 million.

Llorente could link up with one of his former teammates at Leeds in Roca if he was to make the move to Betis.
