Report: After Jamal Lowe, Sheffield Wednesday are now being tipped to sign another new attacker

Sheffield Wednesday may have another new signing on the way, after Jamal Lowe.

Sheffield Wednesday News revealed on Saturday that striker Jamal Lowe was undergoing a medical with Sheffield Wednesday, following his Bournemouth release at the end of last season.

The Jamaican international now looks set to become the Owls’ fifth signing of the summer, and their third free agent capture after Ben Hamer and Max Lowe both joined.

Yan Valery and midfielder Svante Ingelsson have been signed on permanent deals from Angers and Hansa Rostock respectively, with the latter’s arrival announced by the club on Friday.

In what is shaping up to be a very positive summer transfer window so far for Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday, it now looks as though the club might have a sixth summer signing on the way, little over two weeks since the summer transfer window officially opened for business.

Who is Sheffield Wednesday target Olaf Kobacki

Reports in Poland claim that Arka striker Olaf Kobacki, 22, is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent deal this summer.

The Polish forward, formerly of the Atalanta youth set up, scored 15 goals and assisted three more in 34 league games for Arka last season.

His side finished 3rd in the Polish second tier table and qualified for the play-offs, but failed to earn promotion to the Ekstraklasa.

Amid links to Derby County and Norwich City, Polish outlet SportoweFakty say that Kobacki’s next club will be Sheffield Wednesday.

What next for Sheffield Wednesday in the transfer market

Should Kobacki and Lowe both join, it’ll be two strong-looking additions to the attack; Lowe being a proven Championship scorer and Kobacki a younger, more exciting capture.

With Ingelsson now in the midfield too, albeit with more bodies needed in midfield, Rohl may look towards centre-back with Di’Shon Bernard looking set to become a free agent.

After that, Rohl may prioritise a return for James Beadle with Hamer likely brought in as a no.2 goalkeeper for next season.

So whilst the summer so far has been a positive one, with some exciting signings looking set to be announced in the near future, there’s still plenty of work for Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell to do this summer.

Then there’s the challenge of getting all these new players gelling and playing the Rohl way, which may be trickier than many think.
