Report: Derby County now set to miss out on another summer transfer target to Championship rivals

Derby County will have to look elsewhere for attacking quality after missing out on goalscorer.

Paul Warne’s Derby County have been incredibly active in the summer transfer window over the past few days, especially in acquiring attacking quality for the 2024/25 Championship season.

The Rams achieved promotion in their 2023/24 League One campaign at the second time of asking, but have since let go the likes of Martyn Waghorn and Dwight Gayle.

They have all but announced the loan signing of Jerry Yates from Swansea City, who arrives with goalscoring qualities that he showed during his tenure with Blackpool.

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn has also arrived at Pride Park with vast EFL experience.

However, after missing out on Jamal Lowe to Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County look set to miss out on another winger on his way to Hillsborough.

Derby County set to lose race for Olaf Kobacki

Derby County are set to miss out on another attacking transfer target to Sheffield Wednesday, with Olaf Kobacki reportedly close to a move to the South Yorkshire outfit, per SportoweFakty.

The Rams were initially battling fellow Championship side Norwich City for the left winger, however it seems now that Danny Rohl’s side have won the race for the Polish winger.

Kobacki had the goalscoring talents that Derby County were searching for, with 13 goals and eight assists in Fortuna 1 Liga, Poland’s second tier.

The Polish winger was tipped to leave Arka Gdynia this summer after his side failed to get promotion.

Should Derby County continue to search the European markets

Derby County are now left at square one once more when looking for attacking talent to partner the likes of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Yates up top next season.

Kobacki had the numbers to suggest he has the talent, however is fully unproven at this level and in England.

Warne usually has a transfer strategy of going for English players more familiar with the game and as a result more likely to be able to perform at such a level.

It’s a philosophy that negates the risk factor applied to going for random Polish talent.

The likes of Josh Windass, who is available as he imminently gets released from Sheffield Wednesday should be taking priority at this moment in Warne is to add what he needs to his depleted squad.

Yates and Osborn will be successful at Pride Park, there’s no reason why Warne shouldn’t follow suit when looking for a winger this summer.
