'In the last 48hrs': Fabrizio Romano has just shared a fresh update on Liverpool's interest in Anthony Gordon

Liverpool are looking at making new signings and in a remarkable twist this weekend, have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

Gordon is away with England at the moment but after lighting up the Premier League last season, has admirers around Europe.

However, given Newcastle only paid around £45m to sign him in January 2023, many expected him to stay at St James’ Park for the long-term.

But this weekend has seen reports emerge to suggest that the Magpies’ PSR issues mean a big name player could be sold.

With that, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Gordon, with Newcastle apparently proposing they take Jarrell Quansah the other way.

And taking to X to update things, Fabrizio Romano has now shared his update on Gordon potentially signing for Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano shares latest on Anthony Gordon to Liverpool

Taking to social media to provide the update, Romano has said the following on Gordon and Liverpool.

Newcastle are expected to ask for close to the £100m mark if they do sell Gordon.

Quite whether Liverpool would go anywhere near such a fee, is another question entirely.

Gordon risks Everton wrath with Liverpool move

Although we’ve seen players play for both Red and Blue in Liverpool over the years, this one would not sit too well with the Toffees fans.

Nor would it sit well, in fact, with the Toon Army.

Gordon, though, clearly fancies himself as a player who can play at the very very highest level and with Champions League football nearly guaranteed at Liverpool every year, it’s another step.

Still, this would be a shocking deal if it happened.

For Newcastle to have to sell one of their best players due to money would be quite something, given they have the richest owners around.

Gordon to Liverpool, then, would send shockwaves through the market before it’s even really got going.
