'In recent days': Alasdair Gold shares how Spurs are now feeling about signing Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa

Tottenham are interested in a host of players this summer and Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is apparently one of them.

The Villa star is one of the homegrown talents on the books at Villa Park and with PSR issues hanging around, he is a player who can be sold for pure profit.

Recent days have suggested Tottenham are ready to take him off Villa’s hands.

But with a high asking price and other signings in mind, nothing has been done yet and Ramsey remains a Villa player.

However, that could change if Tottenham put up the right money.

And according to Alasdair Gold, Ramsey is very much a player Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of.

Tottenham could sign Jacob Ramsey

Speaking in a Q&A for Football.London, Gold has explained how Tottenham are currently assessing the situation with Ramsey.

“Jacob Ramsey is certainly a player that Johan Lange is a big fan of and pushing for and Ange Postecoglou believes can fit his system well,” Gold said.

“He had a tough season with foot and toe injuries but has looked a big prospect around that. Much depends on Villa and also the player. In recent days there’s been a growing feeling that a bid between £40million and £50million might be enough to tempt Villa into selling.

“Don’t forget the player also has to decide though and it would be a tough one to leave your boyhood club that have just got into the Champions League right now. Ultimately if a deal could be agreed then the versatile midfielder, who turned 23 last month, would have to decide which option was better for the long term and it would be a tight choice I’d imagine as a Villa lad.

“For Spurs I think he makes a lot of sense, he’s very versatile and highly rated as well as being homegrown.”

Indeed, Gold has re-iterated his opinion here that he gave earlier in the week that David is indeed a player wanted at Spurs.

Ramsey is definitely a wanted man at Tottenham and reports have suggested Spurs even offered Gio Lo Celso to Villa to try and sweeten the deal.

However, Villa are likely to want cash to ease their PSR fears and with just a day to go, this is one that could well tick along overnight.
