What started out as a rumor is now confirmed as fact. But what does Denny Hamlin think of Bubba Wallace and Aric Almirola’s fight? The NASCAR driver and team co-owner didn’t have much to say about the incident.

Denny Hamlin won the pole at Nashville Superspeedway. Then he went to the media center to answer questions from reporters. The Wallace and Almirola fight came up.

The 23XI Racing team owner did not have a lot to say. Bubba Wallace has more or less dealt with it, it’s over a month old now. Besides, Hamlin wasn’t even there, even though it happened at a Joe Gibbs Racing competition meeting.

“I think you answered it, I don’t really have a comment on it because I wasn’t there at the time,” Hamlin explained. “So, I don’t know what transpired, it’s all hearsay from my standpoint. At 23XI we let Joe Gibbs Racing handle it and they did what they saw fit. Again, I don’t know all the details because I didn’t want to get too much into the personal business and still don’t.”

23XI Racing and JGR share data. That means they also have shared competition meetings. One thing led to another and there was a physical altercation. JGR felt that Almirola was the instigator and suspended him indefinitely from the Xfinity Series team.

This whole situation happened behind closed doors, no matter how much media ask about it, it’s probably going to remain that way. We won’t know exactly what led to the fight, but we do know that it did happen.

Even Wallace wasn’t too eager to share details about the incident.

Bubba Wallace dodges question about Almirola…sort of

Earlier in the day, Bubba Wallace had his own media availability. As he talked to reporters, he was asked about the Almirola fight. At times, Wallace plays it cool and tries to shrug things off with a sly comment or two.

That is pretty much how he answered the question about Almirola.

“They don’t want me to get into the details. Keep some people’s images good,” Wallace told FOX’s Bob Pockrass. “I think I said enough at Charlotte last year. So, all in all, life is good for me. That shit happened over a month ago. A lot of good has come my way, and that’s what I’m focused on.

“Focused on getting our stuff turned back around, and you know, off the race track, I’m focused on my wife, and baby boy, that’s growing and growing, so that’s all you can really ask for. So things are good for me off-track. Not so much on-track. That’s what we’re focusing on right now. So, there you go. That’s the only question you’ll get.”

Bubba Wallace is referencing Charlotte 2023 for the Coca-Cola 600 in his comments. Aric Almirola and Wallace got into a shoving match on pit road during a rain delay. Wallace then called Almirola “two-faced” during his postrace comments.
