How Unai Emery actually views Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey amid Tottenham transfer interest

Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey has been linked with a possible move to Tottenham this summer.

Monchi has had an exceptionally busy start to the summer transfer window at Aston Villa, with exits and arrivals orchestrated early on.

In a bid to ease PSR concerns, Villa have bid farewell to Omari Kellyman and Tim Iroegbunam, with Douglas Luiz poised to follow suit.

Despite Villa being in the clear financially due to making sufficient sales, there remains talk over the future of Jacob Ramsey, who has recently been linked to Spurs.

What Unai Emery thinks about Jacob Ramsey amid links to Tottenham

Due to Ramsey being a player made at Bodymoor Heath, speculation regarding his future has grown due to the fact a sale would mean 100% profit.

In a recent interview for football.london, the site’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold relayed that the North Londoners are eyeing the Villa star.

Gold claimed that former Villa sporting director Johan Lange, who is now at Spurs, is a ‘big fan’ of Ramsey, and is ‘pushing for’ the midfielder this summer.

While Tottenham are eager to sign the 23-year-old, there is an understanding that Villa could ask for as much as £50m for their academy graduate, a bid that could pry the Englishman from Villa Park.

With all of that in mind, BirminghamLive journalist John Townley gave an insight into what Emery thinks of Ramsey at Villa, which could rule out a move this summer.

Despite only securing eight Premier League starts last season due to injury, Townley reported that the Spaniard still sees the England U21 star as a ‘vital part’ of his squad.

Aston Villa won’t want to part ways with Ramsey

Aside from the fact that Ramsey is crucial to Villa when fit, there is another reason why it would be unlikely that Emery would want to part ways with the Englishman this summer.

With Luiz set to exit, Villa’s midfield options have been limited drastically, as the Brazilian was Emery’s key figure in the position last term.

In Ramsey, the boss has a player capable of being one of the club’s best on his day, and a talent whose position is flexible.

Given what the Midlands club can squeeze from the 23-year-old in the near future, for reasons on the pitch, it would be difficult to imagine the Bodymoor Heath gem leaving ahead of the Champions League campaign.

On a financial level, Monchi will be aware of how a future sale price could maximise if Ramsey is to have a strong season in 2024/25.

Now that Villa have the security of making sufficient sales to ease PSR, Monchi and Emery will be under no pressure to part ways with the midfielder, no matter how hard Spurs push this window.
