Report: Tottenham could now include one of two players in deal for Leeds star Archie Gray today

Leeds United are facing a race against time to get a deal done for Archie Gray with Tottenham now leading the charge for teenager, and a potential player-plus-cash deal is on the cards.

The 18-year-old looked set to be on his way to West London andto join Thomas Frank’s Brentford for a fee of £40m. Gray even travelled to the capital for a medical on Saturday but a bid has now been rejected.

Gray is happy to stay at Leeds but The 49ers have informed him he needs to go because the club need to bring in some cash in order to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules, and Gray is being sacrificed.

Tottenham are now leading the charge for Gray with the teenager changing his mind over a move to Brentford. Spurs and Leeds are in talks with a deal to sell Gray required to be completed by July 1.

The PSR rules have seen Newcastle quickly offload both Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Forest for a combined fee of nearly £70m. Leicester are set to sell Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.

Leeds though, could request a Spurs player in the move for Gray according to a report from The Times. Two players are listed as possible makeweights which would see Leeds receive some cash, and a player.

One of course, is that of Wales star Joe Rodon after the central defender played more than 50 times for the club last season. Rodon has been linked to all three of the Premier League’s newly-promoted sides.

The other player Tottenham could offer Leeds in Gray deal

Spurs triggered an extension in Rodon’s contract to take his deal until 2026, putting themselves in the best place possible to receive a maximum fee. But he could be used in a deal for Gray this weekend.

The other player that Spurs may possibly use is Oliver Skipp. Leeds are said to be interested in Skipp, a player that starred under Daniel Farke at Norwich during his second promotion to the Premier League.

But, there are reservations over a deal including Skipp with Spurs back in Europe and needing to include homegrown players. Skipp is a Tottenham academy product and that makes him valuable at Spurs’ end.
