'No brainer': Jamal Lowe explains who made him really want to join Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed their fifth signing of the summer in Jamal Lowe.

Lowe arrives at Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer after being released by AFC Bournemouth at the end of the season.

The forward has an impressive track record in the Championship, having racked up 39 goals and provided 12 assists in the second tier.

After bagging eleven goal contributions while on loan at Swansea City last term, Lowe earned himself plenty of interest from clubs such as Ipswich, Norwich and Middlesbrough.

Despite having the option to join clubs that finished much higher than Wednesday, the attacker made the decision to move to Hillsborough this week.

Jamal Lowe wants to ‘repay’ the ‘faith’ of Danny Rohl

Lowe has now explained why he decided to turn down their Championship rivals and make the move to Yorkshire, having spent a large chunk of his career down south.

Speaking on the club’s official YouTube channel, he said: “Obviously, I’ve known how big the club is, how big the fan base is and what else pushed it is the ambitions of the new manager and how active he is, how ambitious he is and how his thought process works and that was another major key of coming down.

“I spoke to him a few times before coming down and everything is so positive and it sounds exactly how I want to play. It’s the same style of play I want to be involved in, it’s the ambitions I want to be involved in, so it was a no brainer really. Once I heard the words come out of his mouth as well, it’s something I want to be a part of and repay his faith that he is putting in me.”

The German boss is a game-changer for Sheffield Wednesday

Lowe is an exceptional signing for Wednesday given the quality of clubs they were up against.

The 29-year-old can play anywhere in attack and guarantees the Owls’ goals, while they have even managed to lure him in for absolutely nothing.

Winning the race for Lowe shows just how much of a pull Danny Rohl has.

The German has pulled off some impressive signings so far, with the likes of Lowe, Yan Valery and Max Lowe unlikely to have joined the club if another manager was in charge.

It was already very clear to supporters, but Rohl’s decision to stay at Wednesday is a huge game-changer for the club and could make next season a whole lot more exciting.
