Newcastle are now in talks to sell 'monster' who actually wants to stay this summer - journalist

Newcastle United have been very busy indeed over the past few hours.

Not only does it seem as if Yankuba Minteh is now set to join Brighton after Newcastle reluctantly agreed to sell the winger, Elliot Anderson looks likely to follow.

Eddie Howe was keen on keeping the 21-year-old but he has accepted a deal to join Nottingham Forest as the club look to raise funds to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Luckily, it seems as if Newcastle have done enough to stay on the right side of those, avoiding a potential ten-point deduction as a result.

Still, the outgoings could continue in the coming days.

Howe has previously hailed Callum Wilson as a “monster” and the forward is believed to want to stay at St James’ Park, albeit it seems that may not be enough.

Newcastle are still in talks to sell Callum Wilson this summer

According to Ben Jacobs on X (formerly Twitter), the club remain in talks with Saudi Arabian teams about a move to sell Wilson.

He had previously revealed that three different teams in the Saudi Pro League were keen on a deal to sign the 32-year-old.

Newcastle are really struggling to sell Callum Wilson this summer

Along with Miguel Almiron, Newcastle are reportedly struggling to sell Wilson this summer.

Quite why is unclear but the striker is believed to be on some sizeable wages and, obviously, a move to the Middle East is quite a big lifestyle change.

West Ham are also thought to be keen but, as it stands, there has been no official suitor for Wilson in English football.

Forcing a player to leave is not possible and, as we’ve seen with Almiron, perhaps we should be careful about criticising a player for not wanting to completely uproot their life.
