Far-right firebrand Steve Bannon was scheduled to report to prison on Monday, and his critics met the moment with mockery and laughter.

Real America's Voice, a pro-Trump streaming "channel," broadcast from the car Bannon was riding in the back seat of on the way to the Danbury correctional facility in Connecticut.

Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson started his day ready for the Bannon prison term.

"It's 5:54 on the East Coast," he wrote on X. "The morning air is hot, thick, humid, and smells like a damp towel shoved in a laundry basket that mildewed. Which, interestingly, is the same smell prison officials will experience when they hose down Steve Bannon later today."

Bannon's allies flooded social media, calling him a "political prisoner." But critics lined up to ridicule the firebrand.

"No need for caffeine this morning. I'm all jacked up on Steven Bannon going to jail," posted Rachel Vindman.

Bannon was scheduled to present himself to prison at noon, news that former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen greeted on X.

"Don’t fret Steve … I hear FCI Danbury, Connecticut, is beautiful this time of year," he wrote.

Outside of the prison, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) joined with Bannon trying to give a press conference, but his comments were drowned out by a chorus of "Lock him up! Lock him up!" chants.

"Happy 'Steve Bannon Goes To Prison Day' to all who celebrate," said Kaylan, who posted a photo of a moldy piece of Spam with eyes and a mouth drawn on it.

Ahead of the jail-day, Lincoln Project's Jeff Timmer noted, "Some poor b--tard is going home tomorrow night after having to cavity-search Steve Bannon. May god have mercy on his soul."

"Steve Bannon begins his prison term today. Accountability is a beautiful thing," said former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner.
