Sheffield Wednesday 'expected to sign' Premier League free agent, he's 'keen to work' with Rohl - journalist

Sheffield Wednesday are now ‘expected to sign’ this Manchester United youngster for free.

Sheffield Wednesday have so far completed five transfer deals this summer, with several more looking like they’re well down the line.

Danny Rohl’s summer transfer business got underway with the arrival of Ben Hamer on a free transfer.

Since, the Owls have added Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, and Jamal Lowe to their first-team ranks.

Sheffield Wednesday though are still in desperate need of attacking players following the departure of last season’s top scorer Ike Ugbo.

The Owls are widely reported to be keen on a return for the Canadian but look as though they may yet be priced out of a permanent deal.

Since, it appears as though Sheffield Wednesday and Rohl have turned their attentions elsewhere.

And it now looks like the Owls are be set to sign a new striker on a free transfer.

Sheffield Wednesday ‘expected to sign’ Charlie McNeill

In June, Sheffield Wednesday were linked with a move for Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeill.

The 20-year-old, who is a graduate of the Manchester United youth academy, is set to leave Old Trafford as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

Now, Manchester World journalist Michael Plant says that Sheffield Wednesday are ‘expected to sign’ McNeill this summer.

Plant adds that Sheffield Wednesday look to have fended off interest from Serie A duo Lazio and Torino, as well as the MLS, with McNeill favouring a move to Hillsborough to play under Rohl.

One thing is clear at Sheffield Wednesday right now

McNeill looks as though he could become the sixth signing of the summer for Sheffield Wednesday, in what is so far proving to be an incredibly positive summer transfer window in S6.

It’s clear that Sheffield Wednesday and owner Dejphon Chansiri mean business this summer, and it’s also clear with the signing of McNeill that the Owls are hoping to become more sustainable in their transfer planning.

McNeill is young and inexperienced but someone who boasts great potential. He could also become a very valuable asset for the Owls if he can show signs of development under Rohl.

What’s more, the fact that Rohl is the reason for McNeill wanting to come to Sheffield Wednesday over the likes of Lazio is a huge credit to the German, and a very positive sign for Sheffield Wednesday going further into the summer.
