What Crystal Palace asked Bayern Munich for that caused delay in Olise paperwork being signed - journalist

Many Crystal Palace fans have been wondering why Bayern Munich are yet to announce the signing of Michael Olise.

The German giants triggered the France U21 international’s £55m release clause almost two weeks ago, but the deal is yet to be made official by those at the Allianz Arena.

Now – however – the reason for the delay in Michael Olise leaving Crystal Palace has been revealed…

Why Bayern Munich are yet to announce the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace

Fabrizio Romano has now provided a major update on the 22-year-old’s move to Bavaria.

The reliable Italian journalist states that Crystal Palace asked Bayern Munich for a cut of any fee Bayern Munich may receive from the potential sale of Olise in future, which is why paperwork has only just been signed.

Romano adds that “this was the key point to clarify” – which suggests Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman got what they wanted as a medical is now pencilled in for Sunday.

Olise is currently in Paris with France for the Olympic Games this summer – so we presume he will do his medical examinations from Thierry Henry’s training base for the competition.

Dougie Freedman has irons in the fire for when £55m fee is paid

When Olise’s £55m move is finalised, Freedman appears to have two options lined up as replacements.

Club Brugge No.32 Antonio Nusa is one potential replacement for the France U21 international, and the Glaswegian has supposedly held talks with the Belgian outfit about signing the Norway international – who has a £25m price tag on his head.

Another potential candidate to replace Olise is Hull City No.23 Jaden Philogene, with Romano claiming in a separate story on Wednesday that Crystal Palace have made an offer to sign the England U21 international.

At this moment in time, one of these wingers are the most likely to replace Olise – although both could even be signed.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Bayern Munich could announce the deal next week after Sunday’s medical is completed.
